Pond Kits
When trying to decide what kind of pond supplies you will need, it can get very confusing. Pond Kits are a very good way to eliminate the guess work. You can also save some money by purchasing a complete kit.
They will contain various items and the main supplies will be pond liner, underlayment, a pump and a filter. Some kits will include a pond skimmer. Whats really nice about a pond kit is that all the accessories that are needed for the main components are also included. Those water garden supplies can consist of fittings, instructions and pond hose. But also may contain black waterfall foam, filter media, discharge kit for your pump, dechlorinator and beneficial bacteria to get your new pond started. Pond Kits usually do not include a UV Clarifier.
When considering a kit one of the most important factors will be to make sure you are getting the correct pond liner size for your application. All the other supplies included are based on the maximum amount of water that the liner size will hold and are meant to work together.
Before you choose a Pond Package, decide how large and how deep your pond will be, and how much you want to spend on the project. The pond must be deep enough to allow the fish freedom of movement. In colder climates, the pond must also be deep enough to prevent the water from freezing through. Also think about if you will be putting fish in your pond and if so what kind, Koi or goldfish. Koi need more room then goldfish.
You may also want to take into consideration if you are having a larger waterfall or a stream going into your pond that you will want to purchase some extra pond liner to complete your water garden or koi pond.
When making a decision on a kit or separate items not only can the cost be a factor but what if you really don't need everything in a complete kit. Yes it's true that you will usually save money by purchasing all your items together. But not if you aren't going to use most of the products that it comes with. On the other side the guess work is out as you will have everything to complete a pond.
If you're not sure which pond kit would be the best choice for you then you might want to talk to a pond supply specialist first before making a decision. |
